A: “When the Soviet Union released me, they programmed a mission in my head and that was to seek and destroy everyone and everything. I did this and pledged to my homeland that I will one day become champion of the world…” Q: When you first saw wrestlers in the ring, how did it make you feel? A: “Wonderful I saw my first professional wrestling match via tape in my country of Russia it was my hero Nikolai Volkoff vs Corp. Kirschner 1986 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWbZ8tOFKAM “ Q: What school did you go to for training and who was your trainer? A: “I was trained originally by the Soviet Union where I was taught by the finest Olympic coaches from around the world. Then when I went to the United States of America, I wanted to learn how to break people’s bones more and watch them suffer…so I was trained by Broadway Joe Malcolm who was trained by Boris Malenko aka the Great Malenko, a fellow Russian.” Q: How long after taking classes did you go into your first match? A: “I remember it very well. I was training with this so-called Connecticut state champion called Grappling Greg and I punched out his teeth…there is a reason why he lacks teeth in the front of his mouth.” Q: In your first match, were you asked to put someone over? A: “I throw them over the top rope, and I usually get suspended for hitting them with hockey sticks.” Q: Did you first enter the ring as a heel or face? A: “I walk in the ring and at times I will use my heels to stomp their faces so yes.” Q: Do you have a preference of being a heel or face? A: “I prefer hitting people in the head with objects and throwing them across the ring.” Q: When you first started out, did you have any big-name influences? A: “I was an amateur hockey player in the Soviet Union and at the time I was getting into weightlifting and one of my idols is Olympic Gold Medalist and world record holder Vasily Alekseyev. I was a goalie for the most part of my amateur career so you can imagine someone like Olympic Gold medalist goalie Vladislav Tretiak was like a god to us growing up. Greco Roman Wrestler Aleksandr Karelin had an amazing influence on me and of course Nicolai Volkoff, my hero. Music is always Tchaikovsky, such powerful music and very inspirational. My favorite Russian tag team is the Mongol’s. Some American influences are I have to say I was impressed with pro wrestling/ powerlifting legend Ted Arcidi, Donald Duck, Fred Rogers aka Mr. Rogers, Benjamin Franklin, Commander Pavel Chekov of the starship enterprise, George Washington Carver, Bam-Bam Bigelow, Big Bossman, Nikola Tesla, and AVN Hall of Fame inductee Nina Hartley. But other than that Russia is still number 1.” Q: I noticed in your video that you are very proficient in the gorilla slam. Looking back, did you try to emulate any wrestler who used this move? A: “This move called the USSR Olympic Death Press was inspired by my weightlifting idol Vasily Alekseyev and I will have to dedicate it to powerlifter / pro wrestler Ted Arcidi. Even though he was American I admire his strength and ability. However, some of the strongest wrestlers that had perfected this maneuver were Ultimate Warrior, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Bam Bam Terry Gordy, Tony Atlas, and Ken Patera.” Q: What is your favorite finisher move? “Depending on the situation gut-wrench Powerbomb, USSR Olympic Death Press, Mig 28, Spinning Red Sledgehammer, Manimal Claw, (Tag Team): Soviet Missile Launcher, Flying spinning Red Hammer, Super Hammer and Sickle, Double back suplex (lifting two people at once).” Q: Dan Quirk of CT died many years ago from a botched move. Are there any moves that you think wrestlers should refrain from to protect each other? A: “This reminds me of the time when twisted Jester thought it would be a good idea and hit me in the head with a baseball bat full swing…to answer your inquiry I can only visually express my thoughts on it via this video of me cracking him in the ribs when he did such a move https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PebPFfYbH_w When people do stupid moves stupid things happen.” Q: Today’s audiences seem very “smartened up”. Do you prefer the old school Kayfabe? A: “Today’s audiences just like yesterday’s audiences don’t know anything because they are not in the ring.” Q: Do you think that comedy “spots” are apropos in wrestling? A: “Yes especially when you bash them in the face with a clothesline and then you laugh at them afterwards for not getting up like sissy. I remember I hit Alan Compass so hard he peed himself then I laughed at him and reminded him he is a wimpy man who cannot fight.” Q: When I met Ken Patera, he lamented training suffering due to the ring. Do you find that to be true? A: “What people don’t fully understand is you have to be the ultimate athlete to partake in this sport. You must have agility, stamina, explosive power, speed, intelligence, durability, strategy, and being able to think under pressure…I would love to see any NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL athlete do this…they would not last five minutes. I am ok with Ken Patera. He is a good weightlifter, but Ted Arcidi is the best USA weightlifter.” Q: Give me some exercises you do in the gym, especially for your gorilla slam? A: “Cardio is something that I always do, especially hills and climbing because the isometric exercise helps with toning everything. Ted Arcidi, I copy some of his work outs especially skull crushers and working the triceps.” Q: Wrestling has no unions, insurance or pensions. Should these be initiated? A: “No where is the fun in that? I get a rise going in the ring knowing it's dangerous, it's fun for me I don’t know about everyone else.” Q: What’s your advice for a middle school or high school kid wanting to get into the sport? A: “Train hard, work hard, be very disciplined and do not make decisions that would jeopardize you or your family. And be around good people.” Q: What would you ideally like to see in your future as a wrestler? A: “They are doing a film based on my life called Russian Manimal Volkoff directed by Serenity Angel and Marsha Maraschino. The film https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37435559/stars Olga Kurkulina (Kick Ass 2), American Gladiator’s Erika Andersch, Sha-ri Pendleton, Deron McBee, IFBB Pro Aurelia Grozajova, Tiffany Mellon (GLOW), Andrew Bryniarski (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Comedian Jaye McBride, Broadway Joe Malcolm (NWA), second generation ring announcer Eric Stevens, punk legend Johnny Necro, ECW wrestling legends Gary Wolf, Angel Orsini, Tommy Cairo, AVN Nominee FoxxxyDarlin, NWA’s the Real Drago, TEA nominee Stacy Lynn, CCW’s Alex Horvath, and a few other names this is the official trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QdIxJe2BB0&t=1s Musician Sintha Sinatra and I are working on an album and punk Rock Legend Johnny Necro recently composed music for me for my opening and I am grateful for this. I also have a 76 consecutive suspension / lifetime ban streak https://russianmanimalvolkoff.com/suspensions%2F-bans My goal was to smash New York Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio’s hitting streak, but I surpassed it. I have tried reaching out to him to tell him I am now the number one athlete in the world, but he doesn’t answer his phone. I feel as though he is a sour person and is jealous of my achievement because all he had to do was hit a ball with a bat…I had to get restraining orders put on me and that is far more difficult. I will be having my first pay per view for AKW Wrestling | Official Home of Total Inferno & Arena Kaged Wrestling August 29, 2026 at 120 Fairview Ave, Hammonton, New Jersey and I will be defending my AIWF Brass Knuckles Championship against ECW original Pitbull 1 Gary Wolf. I have been invited to appear at Chiller Theatre convention http://chillertheatre.com/main.htm with my dear friend and manager Tiffany Mellon original GLOW girl and current bounty hunter. October 30 to November 1 in Parsippany, New Jersey.”
